KASAYSAYAN

HISTORY

I was born and raised in the Philippines until my family eventually got immigrant status to the US. 'Amboy' was a nickname commonly used to make fun of me whenever I came back home to the Philippines from abroad. But now this slang has an important meaning, I named my restaurant which will introduce Filipino foods to Pittsburgh. It was a long journey that got me here, and I have added many experiences to my own history. I want to share my experiences from foods I grew up eating up to now, most of which are unique to my family and my insatiable appetite.

Cuisine

Contemporary Filipino cuisine utilizes unique ingredients and introduces foods ubiquitous to the Philippines. The recipes are grounded in tradition and are interpreted with influences from personal experiences as an immigrant, an iteration of the present. Novel interpretation drives the progression of the food from old school to new.
